What was on my Treo 650?

I don’t have the Treo anymore, but here is some software that I used to run the thing:

:

‘Botz Classic arcade game, low rez. Requires registration for full game. ($9.95)

Adobe Reader This application never worked right for me on the Treo 600. Documents were all distorted and it was not really useful. Maybe I will try it again sometime with the 650. Free!

Asteroids Classic arcade game, low rez. Thanks to Erik Saunders for beaming it to me at Interbike ‘05. Free!

Audible Download books and radio shows to listen to them whenever. I tried it out and it worked great but I never really used it that much. Application is free but you pay for downloads.

Bejewled! Game, loads of fun. I have been playing this game since I installed in on my old Clie. Requires registration for full features. Just one of the PopCap games available. ($19.95)

Blackjack Game. Requires registration. ($11.95)

Blocks Tetris type game. Free!

BugMe! Take notes with your own text and set alarms to remind you later. (19.95)

Butler System program to allow user to customize alarms, alerts and navigation. Requires registration. ($14.95)

Call Rec Voice memo recorder. Better than mVoice as it can record both sides of a phone conversation. Requires registration. (19.95)

Card Export Allows the media card on your Treo to be used as an external hard drive for your PC. Requires registration. ($14.95)

Chatter “Push” e-mail application. Works fantastic with IMAP server like Fastmail. Keep e-mail on the Fastmail server and your Treo stays all synchronized with your PC and laptop. Requires registration. ($39.00)

CityID Log Identifies city and state of caller. Helps when caller details are not in phone book. I get a lot of business calls on my phone from customers that I do not have in my phone book and this helps me identify where the call is coming from so I can address the customer correctly. “Howdy parter!” or “How you doin’?” Requires registration. ($14.95)

The Core Pocket Media Player Plays MP3s (and other audio) and videos. Free!

Directory Assistant Automatically queries a server to look up residential or commercial addresses and phone numbers and, using the Treo web browser, can provide maps and driving directions to the address. Free!

Google Maps The same great software that you run on your desktop now on the Treo. Free!

Google Mail Requires the use of Java on your Treo. If it works great, but Java was buggy for me so I bailed on it. I just check GMail via my web browser or via Chatter. Free!
GTS Racing Racing game. Requires registration. ($19.95)

LeTour 05 2005 Tour de France stage race schedule. Updated every year. Free!

iNoah English dictionary. Great for god awful spellers like me. Free!

mVoice Voice note recorder. Handy to have for quick notes when you don’t have time to type things out. I customized the special side button on the Treo 650 to fire this application up immediately. Very handy. Requires registration. ($24.95)

PdaNet Uses the Treo 650 as a wireless modem for a laptop. Faster than dial up but slower than an ethernet connection. Very convenient when you don’t have access to a wireless connection or an ethernet outlet for your laptop. Connect your laptop to the internet in your car, just don’t do it while driving. Requires registration. ($34.95)

Planet Lander Classic arcade game, low rez. This is the most awesome game ever. Requires registration for full game. ($9.95)

Pocket Tunes MP3 player. Requires registration. Removed in favor of The Core Pocket Media Palyer. ($14.95)

RocketMania Game, requires registration for full features. Just one of the PopCap games available. (14.95)

Scud Attack Classic arcade game. Low rez. Requires registration for full game. ($9.95)

SplashBlog Publish photos to a SplashBlog photo website immediately. I don’t use this too much as most of the pictures that I take for my blog I post directly to the main blog page. But it’s fun to have a photo specific page as well. Free but requires registration for more than 100 pictures. ($29.95)

TikTok Timer utility. Create multiple custom count down and count up timers. Great for tracking eBay auctions. Free!

Treo Guard Utility to control various functions of the Treo. I use it to prevent accidental call pick up. Requires registration. ($8.99)

Tron Game. This thing is junk. ($6.00)

U Blog Blog client for Treo. Works great. Free!

VolumeCare Allows for volume to be boosted on handset volume, speaker phone volume, wired headset volume and microphone volume. I found that the Treo 650 volume on the handset was not sufficient enough for me and this application solved that problem immediately. Requires registration. ($14.95)

WorldMate Business and travel planner. Weather forecasts, multiple time zone clocks and alarms, daylight/night map, currency conversion with immediate rate updating and measurement conversion. I use this application to set the time zone when I travel and it automatically adjusts the clock on my phone. Requires registration. ($34.95)

Z Launcher Application launcher for Treo. Allows more customization than OE Palm launcher. Requires registration. ($16.95)

Accessories for the Treo 650 that I use and approve:

Short antenna. More streamlined than the OE antenna. ($29.95)

Leather Side Case I use this case for day to day use. Easy to use. ($19.95)

Krusell Case Protects Treo from dust and rain when I am out at Expo’s. Fits tight so using the keyboard is easy. ($29.95)

Pen Stylus Never be caught without a pen. ($12.95)

Retractable Sync and Charge Cable USB connection to sync and charge Treo to computer. ($15.95) Also fits…

Sync and Charge Wall Adapter Uses retractable sync and charge cable to connect Treo to wall socket. The plug adapter can be removed from the AC shell so you can adapt this thing to use with Euro outlets as well as USA outlets. The AC shell will adapt to 100-240 volts. ($9.95)

Sync and Charge Car Adapter Uses retractable sync and charge cable to connect Treo to car power socket. ($9.95)

Sync and Charge Desktop Cradle Connects Treo to computer for desktop sync and charging. As opposed to OE sync and charge cables, computer power must be on for this thing to charge the Treo. ($24.95)

Performance Headset Not much better than the OE headset but I refuse to use one of those Bluetooth headsets because I don’t want to look like a cast member of Star Trek. ($9.95)

1GB Expansion Card Maximum storage capability for pictures, video, sound files and applications. ($94.95, but you can find them cheaper. I got mine at Best Buy and with a rebate it was around $60.00. Keep your eyes peeled for good deals.)

Screen Protectors Spend a lot of money on this thing so I want to keep the screen in good condition for as long as possible. ($15.95)

Shieldzone Case Plastic polymer application to protect Treo from nicks and scratches. ($24.95)

Accessories for the Treo 650 that I tried and no longer use:
Nite-Ize Universal Holster I loved this case and I used it every day with my Treo 600 but the Velcro blew out twice. I returned the first one to REI where I bought it and they gave me a new one but I can’t exchange this thing every couple of months. Too big a pain. ($9.95)
Clip Holster This is the case that I was using when my dog caused me to drop my original Treo 600 phone into the street. It’s not easy to use as I had to constantly fight to get the phone into the clip. It’s not easy to get the phone out when it rings and the way the clip pressed on the phone it would cause the phone to ‘auto-answer’ when someone called. Plus it beat the hell out of the surface of the phone after just one week of use. Stay away. ($24.95)
