Music Friday
Friday, October 26th, 2007Robin Trower’s Daydream from 1980. And from 1975.
I have fond memories of this song. My parents bought Twice Removed from Yesterday when I was very young and I remember them playing that album, this song in particular, throughout my entire childhood.
That dude is still touring. Go see him if you have the chance.
The Maeflies
Sunday, September 23rd, 2007My old boss from 10 years ago is the lead singer.
We both had hidden talents back then. I did not know that she was a talented singer. She did not know that I was a talented cynical social negativist.
Looking back now, maybe she actually did know how talented I was.
Anyway, we are both on to much better things now. Good on you Mae.
Music Friday
Friday, June 22nd, 2007Count Basie with Buddy DeFranco, Clark Terry and Wardell Gray
A swingin’ tune for a very good day!
Music Friday
Friday, June 15th, 2007Milt Jackson. Hard bop vibraphonist.
Vibraphone is a unique instrument but it works damn well in a jazz group. No one played it better than Jackson.
Enjoy.
Music Friday - Ella Fitzgerald
Friday, June 8th, 2007“Play an Ella ballad with a cat in the room, and the animal will invariably go up to the speaker, lie down and purr.” - Geoffrey Fidelman
Bill Evans
Friday, May 25th, 2007Come Rain or Come Shine, one of my favorite tunes.
If you like jazz and you don’t have anything by Bill Evans you should do yourself a favor and pick this one up.
