Entertaining stuff. Most people have no idea how complicated these cars really are.
By the year 2013 all cars racing in the FIA are mandated to be hybrid powered by both rechargeable and fuel sources. Formula One cars will be moving that direction next year with the introduction of a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) that will capture energy normally dissipated as heat during braking. This energy will be stored in the car, electrically or mechanically, for use as additional power at the drivers discretion.
