Regarding Formula One

December 3rd, 2009 | Posted by Smithers at 12:57 pm in Formula One |

My wife just stated that “not everyone is into Formula One.”

Sure, the elites may be more interested in high brow sports like soccer and basketball, but F1 is a sport for the common man.

The Grand Prix is coming back to Canada in 2010! Who wants to go? Tickets for the weekend will probably be around $1000.

Actually… I like it but don’t have access to coverage (no cable at home.)

And a co-worker of mine likes it so much he streams it from his home cable to his office a work via a Slingbox (www.Slingbox.com).

So sure if you’re buying tickets for us, I’ll take one. :-)

there is certainly a pecking order to auto racing. during the IRL/Cart split you could tell there was more money in the Cart pits. more “pretty” people. and by pretty i mean everyone at least had all their teeth in their head. not like nascar.

from what i’ve seen, the people in the F1 pits make the Cart pits look like swamp buggy racing.

@T3: Sort of like supermodel track racers and bucktooth hillbilly cyclocross racers.

I like F1. But when you mention a $1k ticket, I guess I’m not really that in to it.

@Smithers: Sadly, I guess I’m not elite enough.

Formula 1 in person is pretty incredible. They are louder than you can well imagine. As for the racing, your local Shriners parade is comparable. I can’t imagine CGV being a wonderful place to watch a race, but neither was Indy a few years ago…

@dwold: DUDE! Did you see the Shriners at the Halloween parade this year in Anoka!? It was amazing.
