Well thats part of putting on an event, but if the event is done well, less bitching happens. We (silver Cycling) put on states the preveous 2 years an nothing that absured ever happened, guess we got lucky. I loved putting on that race, from your video here it looks like you didn’t enjoy putting on the race, thats a bummer.
On the other hand when a promoter or a volenteer starts treating racers unfair thats a bad deal. I had many phone calls the past two weeks wanting ta know when the race was, not everybody is a “twit face” The racer may not no all the answers, but when a racer jumps through all the promoters hoops and than shaffted at the race, its a bad deal.
We appriciate those who promote races but if they don’t treat racers right they’re will be no racers to pay the promoters.
As a promoter ya just got to role with it.
I personally thoght it was a real good time besides being shaffted in the SS race (by one of yer voleenteers, he was screeming somthang about insurance?) maybe next year I won’t pre-reg so I can get called up an not overlooked. The Holeshot idea, once changed to a real Holeshot was AWSOME. these shood happen at every race.

I don’t belive the video reflects the hole weekened, but kind of looks that way. I look forward to next year, thanx HoleShot-WooD

@H-WooD: Speaking for myself, I had a ton of fun promoting the event this year. We have received an overwhelming amount of positive responses from spectators, racers, vendors and sponsors. This video was not meant to highlight anyone individual in particular, but more to capture the various absurd comments that we actually heard over the course of two days.

We received complaints from less than a handful of individuals about how we set up the event. Our goal was to maximize the donation amount that we could contribute to the City of Crystal and I hope to be able to announce that amount later this week. But in order to make this a big number we felt we needed to add some additional structure to the back end of the event and try and promote something akin to what they do at the USGP’s. We have a full calendar of local and low key cross racers, we wanted to offer a different experience. Almost all the feedback we have received has been super positive.

I was not involved in every aspect of promotion so I am not sure which racers were not treated fairly, but I do know that some riders missed their call ups, were not ready for call ups during staging, left the grid before the start of the race or jumped the line before the start of the race. At this point it was up to the officials to determine the penalty to these riders, not the promoters. Never-the-less, we received less than handful of complaints from racers regarding how things were run.

That being said, we take all complaints seriously and will be working hard in planning for next year to make sure that things go even better than they did for this year. We will continue to try and promote a professional event that we can all be proud of. This goes for every aspect of the event from promotion, registration, staging, call ups, start, officiating, course design, vendors and sponsors. We did things differently at our race and this was by design.

Thanks for your comments on the hole shot race. I am glad that we were able to make this change and help this race be as exciting as it turned out to be. Regarding your registration for the race next year, by winning the hole shot you are already registered with a front row start position as reward for winning!

You are right, this video does not reflect the entire weekend, and it was not meant to. It was really just an inside joke that I shared with everyone. No personal attacks were intended, just a laugh.

We had a great time and we are really looking forward to 2010!

Lol… actually it reminded me how totally unrelated events have similar idiots… with _very little_ editing it would fit various sci-fi/fantasy conventions and Renfest.

In other words. a-holes are everywhere… sadly nobody has a monopoly on them. :-)

Glad that State Cross turned out well overall… Hope it goes well next year too!
