It was a lot easier to hop barriers before the UCI made them taller.

interesting… curious if it really saves enough time (vs. the effort and skill) to help out in a race.

It’s really annoying when people try it and fall down in front of everyone else. I believe it’s only allowed in the Cat 1/2 races anyway, although that may be up to promoters/officials.

i tend to think that it doesn’t save all that much time if you know how to dismount/remount well…

that said, todd wells was able to bunny hop the barriers at the bottom of mt. krumpit at Jingle CX and made huge time every lap riding the climb everyone else was running.
it certainly made a big difference there.

Jesse LaLonde was jumping all the barriers at last years champs. He was also on an SS. What a freak!!

“To bunny-hop obstacles during a race you must be 100-percent confident that you can do it every single time. Nine times out of ten is no good, because the one time you don’t make it will cost you more time than you gained on all the previous nine put together. You also risk doing serious damage to yourself and your bike.” Simon Burney – Cyclo-cross Training and Technique
