I’m voting for him to take over “Mr Roger’s Neighborhood”, he’d be awesome.

Read the transcript of Jindal’s response to Obama’s address… A few things I noticed:

Jindal clearly recognizes the success of Obama-style oration, focusing on hope and a can-do sense rather than the fear and cynicism of the previous 8 years, and is using it here. Jindal makes numerous appeals to the audience’s emotions including rhetorical queries about whether it’s right to borrow from our children to fund what would be extravagance today, and calling for affordable healthcare for all.

However, Jindal fails to provide any meat with his statements (rather un-Obamaesque). He calls for affordable healthcare but provides no suggestions. He calls for proper/better education of our children but makes no mention of where we would secure monies for such an endeavor. He talks about ethics reform… wait… I thought this was about fixing the economy…

Jindal takes great care to show his audience he is “one of them” by using catchy words and phrases like “bureaucrat” run healthcare (boooo!), “partisan” democrats (boooo!), “we” remember what it was like to pay $4/gal, and “[republicans] place [their] hope in you, the American people.” He even invokes his (late?) father to ensure we all get the warm fuzzy’s.

My favorite part is: The American spirit has triumphed over almost every form of adversity known to man, and the American spirit will triumph again. I would ask, though, can the American spirit triumph over the American appetite? If recent history bears any weight, then I’d submit that the answer is probably not.

It’s a good thing for folks like Mr. Jindal that we are largely a dumb and gullible country. Anyone with half an education could write just such a speech; as Bubba might say, “it’s [debate team] 101.”

    Yawn.
