Warners’ Stellian ruined my X-Mas

December 23rd, 2008 | Posted by Smithers at 11:29 am in Electronical |

I took charge of the project to acquire a new washer and dryer for our home. It was a big risk because my wife likes to research new appliances very thoroughly to assure that we are buying something of high quality, durability and value. I just went to the store and talked to someone about it and decided what I wanted. No research, no reviews.

Warners’ Stellian made the delivery last Thursday, our new Electrolux front load washer and dryer! They also took away our old machines.

During the process of hooking up the washing machine it was discovered that a valve was broken. Warners’ Stellian did not have the valve available and it had to be ordered from Electrolux. Couldn’t I just get a new machine? No. This damage can occur in transit and Warners’ Stellian could not assure that the same thing would not happen again. So I had to wait for a new valve to be shipped. It was supposed to arrive today.

We have been six days without being able to wash our clothes. With two little kids our dirty clothes pile is starting to take over an entire room.

I got a call from Warners’ Stellian last night. I did not get the message until late in the day and was not able to return the call until this morning. Apparently the valve is not coming and Electrolux has “authorized” Warners’ Stellian to deliver a new washing machine. They can deliver it on Friday.

Question #1 – What if the valve gets damaged in shipping on this new machine?

Question #2 – FRIDAY!? Nine days without being able to do laundry? Are you f-ing kidding me?

I told the customer service agent that if I did not have a new washing machine up and running by the end of today then they could refund my money and pick up both machines on Friday. She told me they would deliver a new machine tomorrow.

Now I just have to figure out a way to tell my wife. She’s never going to let me forget this.

dude you should really ask them to reimburse you for your laundry bills and or trips to the laundry. If they give you any grief about that return the machines and buy them else where, The part about waiting for a part is crap, they should have replaced it that day, just got to push harder. In todays market, and with the money you just droped, you should get anything you ask for.

Possibly go to the laundromat and rub shoulders with the underclasses?

My advice? You could potentially build up a bit of political capital from this – totally exaggerate how bad it is, and how badly you screwed up.

If you’re anything like me you’ll do something much worse within a month or so, and by copping to this screw-up you’ll seem like a more reasonable person heading into the next crisis.

p.s. the upside to the laundromat is that they’ve got dozens of washers there. You’ll be running your new machine for weeks to grind through that pile of dirty clothes. One cycle’s worth of time and the laundromat and you’re back to the starting line.

when we moved into our house we brought our all-in-one washer/dryer with us (people take their appliances with them in NC) and the house had a washer dryer. So we basically have 2 sets..get an all in one to complement what you have.

Dude, you don’t have to let a broken valve ruin your x-mas… these things happen. That’s a lot of drama if you ask me, and I think your wife will forgive you if you either go to the local laundromat or wait till tomorrow and do it all at home. Make a Holiday party out of it! :-)

I feel your pain. I’ve been fighting with Warners Stellian over a refrigerator for over three months, and the problem’s still not solved!

You can get the full story here.

I wish I had seen these complaints before I got a stove from Warners Stellian. Our oven hasn’t worked since we bought it and we are in our third week of dealing with this. First, a repair date was set, no one came on that date, no one called to cancel, and when I contacted them they said a part was back ordered. Then I was told we could exchange the faulty stove for store credit to buy a more expensive one (by $300). When we investigated that option online we found the more expensive one somewhere else for less than the original stove. When I told Warners that we just wanted our original stove fixed it took three days for them to reply that they’d get back to us when they could fix it. If you have a problem with them, do what my lawyer told me to do: only communicate with them by e-mail so that there will be a paper trail and you won’t end up where it is just your word against there’s.
