Indoor Race Series Update

December 13th, 2008 | Posted by Smithers at 6:43 am in Local Cycling |

Things are looking good, just need to get word on open dates and time slots and we’ll put this thing together.

Riding on this surface is different from riding on natural grass. There is a lot more rolling resistance than I am used to. Speed drops off pretty quickly if you stop pedaling.

When the speed gets cranked up and you are tucked in close behind the rider in front you can see and feel the tiny rubber granules getting kicked up. By the end of the test session I had these granules all over my arms and legs and some even in my hair.

Cornering on this surface is amazing. It was made for good grip so you can really lean the bike over when cornering fast and there is no tire slip.

All in all, it looks to have all the makings of a great race venue. Now I just need to work with the NSC and get something finalized.

More to come!

h/t Hollywood for the video!

It’s cool, but after 5 minutes of riding I was sweating my ass off.

I’d like to try taking pictures at this thing. unless you’ve got TC already lined up… wondering how dark it is in there…

@FrankRowe: That would be great Frank, the extra promotion would help!

    Frank,

What I do at these races is for love, not money. Anytime you want to shoot something, by all means. Thanks for the concern. I might bump into out there, but we can share – promise.

    Chris, what is the latest?
