Problem solved!

Miami Herald:

Malaquías Gaspar left his farm village in southern Mexico when the economy soured in the mid-1990s. He headed north illegally and found the proverbial better opportunity in South Florida, where he made a decent living by picking fruit and building homes.

But the U.S. economic crisis has disrupted his life and the lives of countless other illegal immigrants who are now planning to leave or have already left.

See? All problems eventually solve themselves.

The nativists were all worried about the Mexican invasion that they never saw the economic collapse coming. One problem solves another!

La vie est belle.

Why can’t we blame them for the economy? Those people are no different than those Wall Street fatcats who descended on their prey, worked with cash, never charged a thing, took profits out of a phony, propped-up economy, then skipped town now that gravy train has rolled away.

I guess it’s time for Mr. Gaspar to move to Southern Canada.
South Mexico ->South Florida -> South Canada. Next logical step?

I’m sure we’ll eventually learn that the mortgage meltdown/credit crisis/recession is really just an economic weapon - the only way that anyone could figure out how to reverse immigration trends AND cause internal unrest in China’s new middle class… all at the same time.
