The Reality

November 24th, 2008 | Posted by Smithers at 7:44 am in Cycling |

You could promote the most awesome race in the entire universe.

No entry fee, great course, thousands of spectators, big sponsors, TV, magazines, everything you can imagine.

Someone would complain that they did not get sauerkraut on their free post race hot dog.

A lot of racers are vegetarians. If we are serious about growing the sport we can’t just be shoving hot dogs at people that would eat the sauerkraut and dump the dog in the trash. That’s an insult!

It would take a lot of free beer to make up for that.

That post wasn’t entertaining enough. Try again, this time with sauerkraut.

so that’s why all the races promoted in minnesota are so weak,
the race promoters are sensitive whiny babies!
know in your heart that you did the best that you could and fuck the comments – get over yourself- 100% approval is a fantasy

i may not be socially adept or tactful but i believe i may be on to something here, allow me to expound…
1)no-one in MN takes criticism or compliments very well
    2) instead of dealing with opposition head on, the passive aggressive approach seems to rule, i.e. just throwing way the form if someone complains.
    3) i like livin in MN alot, but the people and dealing with them is the vbullshit, thank god for the lakes and safe nieghborhoods

@bloodline: And your problem with “Minnesota Nice” is what again? :-)

I grew up in Wi but have lived in Mn for 20+ years now… I’m still amazed by the amount of passive/aggressive behavior here. That and never wanting to take the last slice of pie…

I find you and Hollywood kissing way more disturbing than you taking a swing at hollywood…

You midwesterners are all massively pussified. It’s one of your most endearing qualities!

Notwithstanding, I would never take the last piece of pie – that’s just poor manners.

    (dis)-

Sometimes the best form of criticism is to take a swing at the organizer. Didn’t you know that? Gosh, you people need to lighten up.

p.s. taking a swing at a successful event is not unheard of, in fact, who could possible remember the Team Puma douchebags during the Stupor Bowl 8 trackstand competition?

I’ve never had any problems at the races I’ve promoted.

Didn’t I read something about “last word”?

Sometimes the best way to get people to stop talking about you is to just stop talking about yourself.
