Must the season ever end?

So asks Timmer.

Given the opportunity to race during what is historically the off season, would you take advantage of it?

Maybe it’s better to force the cycling community to get away from competition for four or five months to recharge?

let’s take a look at the time frame again….
    cross nationals, end of december/january
    first road race, april
so i see three months off…
high school multi-sport athletes go from cross country to hockey to track, no organized competitions over summer ‘cept running, when was the last time you really took some time off, sounds like retirement is immanent

If you schedule a race in July or August you’ll find that lots of riders take those months off too.

choice of sport should at least change, especially for kids.

Blanking on the guy I listened to on NPR this last summer (wrote a book recently on women’s sports) but he was griping about injury rates in women’s sports due to focusing on one activity. He thought the same applied to men’s sports too…

So can’t see how it would be good for an adult either (if its not your full time job of course.)

    just a thought.

There’s a few races in the offseason already, most being MTB Ice races. They seem to have a good turn-out with a High fun-factor.

Is the turf racing on sinlge-speeds with cycle-cross tires?

I need to make some investigations and confirmations before there is any announcement to be made. More soon.
