voting norms

NBC:

Voters are reporting major obstacles to casting their ballot in polling locations across Virginia and Pennsylvania, which could disenfranchise thousands of voters in each state.

Long lines, broken voting machines, ballot shortages and misused absentee ballots are just some of the problems that threaten voting.

I know that the states are allowed to run their elections as they see fit, but we are long past time when these problems should have been solved. It’s clear that some states just can not seem to figure out how to make voting simple and easy.

It’s time for a federal mandate to the states requiring them to streamline the voting process. These problems only serve to make voting difficult for certain segments of the population.

Vote by mail is the way to go.

All you jerks come from Oregon and say the same damn thing.

Based on today’s experience… yeah, maybe there’s some validity to it, although I’m more comfortable with the illusion of security when I feed my ballot into that box thing, even if it’s got that fishy radio antenna for some reason.

for some reason, voting on site by filling in the circle with a pen is the most satisfying way to vote. It’s probably mental, but to me voting by machine or proxy seems like there’s less of a chance for my vote to be messed with or tabulated incorrectly. Plus I get a pleasure in filling in that circle next to a 3rd Party Candidate!

I like to watch my ballot get sucked into the machine.

Voting by mail, you still fill in the circle. :) Plus every Oregonian gets a comprehensive voter guide with views on both sides. Makes for much better educated voters on all the issues. Here you have to make a big effort to figure out what will be on the ballot, do your research, etc. Most people don’t. The voter guide makes it much easier.
