McCain needed to look presidential, he didn’t. Finger pointing, calling Obama “that one”, looking angry, refusing to shake Obama’s hand, leaving the hall right after the debate – it all conspired against McCain to show him for the petulant child he is. The American people are tired of this kind of behavior. Was Obama a revelation? No, but he did not have to be. All he had to be was cool and calm. Obama did what he had to do.
"Time out," he said bringing his hands together to make a T. "Time out." The crowd quieted down. "The other thing we have to learn is that we can’t get into this partisan bickering. The fact is that Republicans and Democrats have the same objectives. … Democrats are loyal Americans. Republicans are loyal Americans. I think we have better answers, but we have to respect each other." – Rudy Giuliani, August 31, 2006
Yesterday McCain/Palin supporters were heard referring to Obama as a "terrorist", using racial slurs, and stating that Obama should be "killed". Today cries of "treason" have been heard at a Palin rally.
I thought "angry" was the exclusive domain of the left?
John McCain would be well served to listening to one of the few things that Giuliani got right.
Not only is it a lie to paint Obama as unpatriotic, it’s unprincipled and irresponsible.
If someone wing nut gets all screwed up and decides that they are going to act against Obama, the McCain campaign will be to blame.
John McCain will have many years to look back and regret the shameful and disrespectful campaign that he has run. Let’s hope that something terrible does not happen that will haunt him for the rest of his life.
McCain can stop this. If he was a real patriot he would.
