Lance Armstrong on cross bike

September 24th, 2008 | Posted by Smithers at 12:15 am in Pro Cycling |

CX Mag:

Lance Armstrong’s spokesperson, Mark Higgins, has told Cyclocross Magazine that Lance is trying race Cross Vegas, and is planning on “getting in just in time for the race barring any flight delays.”

Everyone here is all pants-a-wettin at the possibility of seeing the man in action.

I have not seen Armstrong in the flesh racing since the NorWest cup of 1994 when he rode around in the rain wearing his rainbow jersey.

I got on TV that day.

I wonder how Lance will adjust to being the 2nd (possibly 3rd) best stage racer on Astana. I’m looking forward to the soap opera. I’m curious who he will bring along as the young, blond, hottie love interest.

I think it depends whether you’re talking about the best racer over the course of their lifetime, or just next year. I’ll say it again, but Leipheimer is more or less the same rider as “Vintage Lance”, but ironically none of the balls of the testicular cancer survivor.
Even so, he’s been out of the sport for a while, and he’s quite a bit older than when he bounced back from a cancer diagnosis to placing fourth in the Vuelta less than two years later.

    Also: Hayden Panettiere, please.
