The single most painful experience anyone ever had

I missed the saddle trying to hop on my cross bike last night and “bhraappped” my thigh between the tire and the frame. ScottERob said it would happen, I just didn’t think it would happen to me so soon after he said it. Like 5 minutes later. Incredible pain, even now this afternoon. LOOK AT IT! PAIN! Horrible pain…

“Ape men from the center of the Earth saved the planet 2000 years ago.” – Michelle Bachmann

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

ONN:

"[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she’s just trying to save the planet. We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet — we didn’t need Nancy Pelosi to do that," says Bachmann.

Now, a lot of people think that Bachmann is referring to Jesus:

That’s right, this guy.

But look closely at the quote: "they saved the planet". No, despite Bachmann’s reputation for being all whacked out for Jesus, that is not who she is referring to.

I know what she is talking about:

Ape men from the center of the Earth, for real.

I know how things are going to turn out if we continue to put our faith in ape men from the center of the Earth:

Fundy Republicans have to go!

stutter step

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Let’s just say that I am not a true crosser.

Never-the-less, I have been doing that same stutter step before remounting.

After reading Jared’s comment I decided to go out last night and work on it. I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong but I just could not figure it out. I kept making that little step with my left foot before getting on the bike. Totally wrong.

In frustration I rode over to ScottERob’s house and demanded that he interrupt his dinner and come outside to show me what I was doing wrong. He had me fixed in less than 5 minutes.

Initially I was thinking "what difference does it make?" But once I got it figured out I immediately noticed that getting rid of the stutter step allowed me to get back on the bike at a higher speed.

Maybe I’ll be a true crosser someday.

Baby steps, but no more stutter steps.
