secret molecule

July 23rd, 2008 | Posted by Smithers at 1:59 pm in Pro Cycling |

Ricco busted with the help of EPO manufacturer Roche.

I think we are now entering the age when only morons and idiots are doping. It’s going to get too easy to bust these guys so the smart riders will know to stay clean.

No problem. Get your EPO, a natural protein if I remember correctly, from some other source. Problem solved.

    Dude,

As long as auto transfusions are undetectable there will be riders digging deep into their refrigerators of courage.

I could be way off, but the list of chemicals safe enough to give to sick people in detectable quantities probably isn’t that long. The secret’s out, so the molecule isn’t far off from being identified, then masked.

Steroids seem to be slipping away as an issue, but what’s getting better, the controls or the cheats?

are people gonna start waking up in bathtubs full of ice without their kidneys?

do cats produce EPO naturally? there are a few strays in our neighborhood.

i bet denmark has a lot of cats…

    assholes.

My understanding is that auto transfusions are detactable by dating the age of the blood cells.

If that’s true then we won’t find out about it at the Tour. With the Olympics coming up, China will be transfusion central.

Or the whole thing could be untrue.

I thought they caught Vino last year on an auto transfusion.

(dis); if Roche makes it, I’d have to guess that others could do so. In fact, I’d guess there’s a lab in China or somewhere for this very purpose for the Olympics this year. Talk to the right people, and you’ll find it for the right price.

On the light side, Wiki says that it’s becoming a problem in billiards. No, I don’t get it either, and yeah, I know the source isn’t always the best. But the very thought is hilarious!

Vino was transfusing but with someone else’s blood. He got caught with the same test as Tyler. They thought the LNDD was not able to perform the test. They had training in it just before the Tour, catching Astana by surprise.

Someone else’s blood? Was it super rookies?
