I agree with Atrios

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

When he says:

I’ve never quite been able figure out why the image of the burning twin towers is seen by Republicans as something in their favor. In my universe the timeline goes something like this:

Jan 20, 2001 Bush Inaugurated

Jan 25, 2001 Richard Clarke sends Condi Rice memo, warning about al Qaeda. Rice does nothing.

August 6, 2001 Bush gets memo titled “Bin Laden Determined to strike in US.” Bush responds by telling the briefer, “All right. You’ve covered your ass, now.” Then does nothing.

September 11, 2001 Bin Laden strikes in US.

Tuff Ride Tonight

Prediction? Pain.

See you there.

What I like, part two.

I don’t like (dis).

But I do like Formula One Auto Racing.

Very technical, physically demanding for the drivers, exciting to watch.

Runnin’

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Since my focus for this year is dum cyclocross I have been spending some time off the bike to get my legs ready for harsh treatment.

I have discovered that 200 pounds of human was not built for running. Ankles are stiff, my lower legs have been replaced by daggers that pierce my knees with each step, my hips and lower back are killing me. But with each outing it gets a bit easier.

I run so slow that my GPS unit sometimes thinks that I have stopped.

Hopefully the pain now will help lessen the pain later. Or at least I will slightly faster with the same amount of pain.

We’ll see how last night’s run affects tonight’s Tuff Ride.

TdF, Stage 10 wrap up and Pool update

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The bad:

Kim Kirchen - Fun while it lasted.

Damiano Cunego - Not quite there today.

Alejandro Valverde - Who ever said you were a grand tour contender anyway?

Andy Schleck - No GC for you.

The good:

Frank Schleck - Took advantage of the hard working CSC squad today to haul himself up a few spots in GC.

Juan Jose Cobo Acebo - Now top 10 in GC.

Riccardo Riccò - Climber’s jersey and young rider’s jersey. The new Pantani? Or better?

Bernhard Kohl - If only his team mate had not knocked him down a few days ago.

The golden:

Cadel Evans - Big time come back from his big time crash yesterday.

Christian Vande Velde - Amazing work to stay with the contenders today. Will VdV have a bad day? Hope not! Garmin is really getting their monies worth out of their Slipsteam sponsorship.

Pool is updated. Alex Atherton and Savage Soigner put 5 points on the board with their pick of Cadel Evans to wear the Yellow Jersey on the July 15 rest day.
