Cindy McCain, May 8 2008:

What you’re going to see is a great debate. Which is what the American public deserves. None of this negative stuff, though. You won’t see it come out of our side at all.

John McCain will look back on 2008 as the year his bullshit reputation of honesty and integrity was flushed down the toilet.

Track Night tonight…

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Looks like things will be dry.

There will be some sprinty dumbness before the Madison race. Bob will be picking the Madison partners and I am all excited to see who I get to hold hands with. Who ever I get as a partner is going to be really sorry because I am sloooooooooooow.

I saw Tom Lee at Flanders yesterday. I had not seen him since the big wreck of ought four. He had healed up fine over the past four years. I tried to talk him into coming back out, he sounded kind of interested…

iTunes qwextion

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I have the actual music files stored in the iTunes Library on my home computer and on my iPod.

I would like to play the music files stored on my iPod through my work computer iTunes program. My work computer iTunes program does not appear to want to play any file unless a copy of the file actually exists on the computer.

Can I not tell iTunes to play the files stored on my iPod?

How I do it? Halp!

Apple

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I got my new iPod today.

160GB classic. I am going to store movies for the kids on this thing for the long car trips.

Because I have already fielded this question I will explain…So why did I get an Apple product if I am so down on Apple products?

I am not down on Apple products, Apple makes nice stuff. I am just down on Apple Kulture. For the most part I don’t care to use a product because I want to be one of the kool kidz. I use a product because it works.

Simple put, the iPod is the best MP3 player of those I have tried. With other units I could hear the hard drive spinning and it would effect the quality of the sound output. I had a Dell MP3 player for a while until it crashed so hard I drove over it with my car and then threw it into Lake Superior. After that experience I figured I would just pony up and buy the one that everyone used because it worked. Since then no problems.

Except the fact that the battery duration on my previous iPod only lasted about 2 hours and it somehow got infected with a virus that would keep it from synching with iTunes. Other than that it was awesome.

So why don’t I just get a iPhone then?

Because I am not a total douche.

I use T-Mobile service, AT&T is horrible. Plus, while I was at the Apple store buying a hard shell case for my new iPod the place was full of people who were claiming that their iPhone “didn’t work.” If my phone does not work I want to be able to fix it myself, thus Windows Mobile. I don’t want to have to go to a store and stand in line with a bunch of other disgruntled douche bags because I can’t tweak a system that I am totally locked out of.

Plus I hate those smarmy little iPhone icons all over the freaking place…

hard news

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

VeloNews:

The Italian ANSA news agency has reported that cyclist Ricardo Riccò, who tested positive for a new form of EPO, following the 4th stage of the Tour de France, has admitted to having doped in preparation for the French tour.

Since the Riccò controversy, the team’s title sponsor has withdrawn from the sport but the squad will continue to operate under the joint sponsorship of the Scott-USA bicycle company and Mexican meatpacker, American Beef, based in Chihuahua. The company supplies patties to Burger King, one of its primary customers, and to Wal-Mart and Costco under various brand names.

American Beef from Mexico?

Tour de France thoughts

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

It kind of seemed like a bit of a boring race this year.

Was the lack of Tom Boonen? Was it the lack of Team Astana? I’m not sure.

The sprinters teams did not seem to have it put together with the exception of Columbia and Cavendish. There were a bit of fireworks on the run up to Hautacam but when push came to shove no one really fired a kill shot. L’Alpe d’Huez? All credit to Sastre for his strong move but once he had a gap you could have turned off the TV as nothing else happened. The final time trial held nothing exciting when it was clear that Evans did not have it in him.

Your thoughts? Was the Tour exciting enough for you this year?

Smithers Minneapolis 2008 Tour de France Pool Final Results

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Here they are.

Congratulations to the podium finishers:

1st Place  IBELIEVEFRANKIE, 160 points
Excellent work picking the top two finishers. Picking the team was just icing on the cake.

2nd Place  pc, 100 points
As it should be, pick the winner of the Tour should guarantee you a spot on the podium.

3rd Place  Piti, 80 points
Piti took Valverde (9th place) for the win so I had to give it to him over Bill Hannahs who picked Andy Schleck (12th place). Piti and Bill Hannahs will both get the same prize however.

Goose Egg awards to: Andy Kruse, P Max, Skibby, Super Rookie and The heavy horse. Better luck next year on getting something right.

Prizes will be announced tomorrow. Thanks to all who took part in the pool this year!
