Questions my wife was not interested in answering…

Is it more important to use filtered water in my espresso machine, or change the water everyday? Is it really that important to change the water everyday? If it’s not important to change the water everyday why shouldn’t I just use filtered water? Is it more important for me to get the right answer or the answer I want?

if your not using it everyday and letting water sit in the reservoir. Then yes use filtered water (nothing more fancy then a Brita or some such.)

Mainly to cut down on mineral deposits over time.

    Just my two cents…

I use the espresso maker daily, sometimes twice. I’ve used both tap and brita filtered. Can’t taste the diff. You should wash out the reservoir every so often (otherwise it gets slimy), but I honestly don’t think it matters that much. They say a key component to great coffee is very cold water, but I’m too ghetto to tell the diff I guess.

As long as we are asking the important questions, I have one.

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?

I’m glad I’m not responsible for your dental bills, pcomeau. :^)

My take on the espresso machine is that it probably depends on how good the water is that you’re putting in it. I would have to guess at least that you’re on soft city water, and that the machine’s maker used stainless to prevent problems in its reservoir. I’d guess it ought to take a long time for you to see problems.

Ask the missus why they would put numb nuts Zabriskie on the US national team over Horner. At least they didnt opt for Danielson.
