Incompetent government
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008I am by no means in favor of government taking over industry that can (and should) be handled by the private sector. But I am really getting tired of the conservative assertion that government is incompetent and that everything it touches turns to crap.
My question to conservatives would be: Does this also apply to the U.S. military?
Sure, the military has issues of fraud, abuse and waste. But when it comes down to the job of national defense I would defy you to point out another country with the sophistication and professionalism that defines the U.S. military. Why is this? Because conservatives have been in full support of the armed forces from the beginning.
If you continually throw a wrench in the mechanism of government you can’t legitimately complain when the mechanism does not work. If you stop and think it’s really amazing that government works as well as it does despite all the work on the part of conservatives to gum up the gears.
