Mac schloobs

May 7th, 2008 | by Smithers |

Comments on the previous post were so awesome that I have decided to see where this post leads.

People who use Mac computers are just making up for the fact that they were born without a brain.

I pity you.

Let the havoc commence!

BTW, without commenting on who may have spit on who, because I honestly don’t care, I was describing the series of comments on the post yesterday to my wife. When I mentioned spitting my 2.5 year old son, who was sitting next to me at the dinner table, turned to me and said “I spit on you!” and he did.

Which one of you assholes do I blame for that!?!

There is a LOT of spitting going around with the 2-3 year old crowd lately. Is this a trend? Should we be doing an intervention? Is Dr Phil to blame again?

I have a Mac at home and a PC at work.

The Mac’s sole purpose is to prevent my wife from being able to load up a PC with spyware because she downloads stupid shit.

I bought a Powerbook G4 in March of 2005, primarily because I wanted to try something new (OS X) and the power saving features on the Mac were advanced far beyond any PC laptop I had seen at the time. A secondary feature was that users were regularly getting 3-3.5 hours of battery life on that model which was better than most anything else on the market at that time. My machine (albeit with a RAM upgrade) is still just as snappy as it was on day 1 and certainly fast enough to do anything I want to do, other than serious video editing/encoding (hey, it’s a laptop).

My next laptop will also be a Mac (either a MacBook or MacBook Pro) because of all of the above reasons, plus the fact that I will be able to run Windows and Windows apps (plus Linux if I really want to) using BootCamp and Parallels, or VMware Fusion. I still use Linux and Windows on my PC’s at home. There are indeed some features of Apple machines that ‘dumb down’ some portions of the OS and user interface, but I’ve generally found that, for power users - everything you can do on a PC, you can do on a Mac.

It’s really just a matter of personal preference - not intelligence, IMHO.

Something about the Mac store gives me the creeps. I always thought it seemed a little cult-like, and I’ve finally figured it out: it’s the next generation of Heaven’s Gate. Instead of matching Nike shoes, followers have white Apple laptops…in honor of Marshall Applewhite, no doubt.

That should have been written “accidentally”.

Late to this conversation. Must have been installing security updates.

Yes, we generally are stupid, as we don’t have the time or mentality to constantly try to figure out what went wrong with our bling, so I bought macs to avoid that. I find my iMac is solid and thin enough to bring down medium size mammals to feed my family, though. It’s great that Apple copied MS latest great OS so that we could try to be on top of the tech world……I think that’s the way it went down…????….
