Tuesday Tuff Ride Recap

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I expected the worst, and I was not disappointed! It was way hard but, thanks to the Good Shepards (b2b and Pmax) I was able to finish with the group.

As is the tradition, once we hit County Road 24 on the run out to Lake Independence the shyte hit the fanz and off I came. There were a few other guys who were in the same boat and we were able to put together a little group that stayed in sight (barely) of the leaders.

This is usually the critical part of the ride for those who are suffering. It’s about 10 minutes worth of really hard work to get out to the lake. You just have to put your head down and suffer as much as possible and see if you get to the lake in time for the re-group.

The rest of the ride for me was pretty much about following wheels and staying out of the wind. It was a tuff ride. But that’s why it’s called the Tuff Ride.

Army Times:

Speaking Monday at the annual meeting of the Associated Press, McCain was asked whether he, if elected, would shift combat troops from Iraq to Afghanistan to intensify the search for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

“I would not do that unless Gen. [David] Petraeus said that he felt that the situation called for that,” McCain said, referring to the top U.S. commander in Iraq.

Petraeus, however, made clear last week that he has nothing to do with the decision.

So much for military experience.

Not only does McCain not understand the difference between Suuni and Shi’a he also does not seem to even understand how the military works.

This guy is the last thing this country needs.

Potential end of the world - June ‘08

Greg Laden:

It is said that scientists involved in the Manhattan Project to engineer and implement the first nuclear bombs seriously considered the possibility that such a bomb could initiate a chain reaction that would destroy the Earth. Now it is being claimed that the production of miniature black holes by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Switzerland could do the same. The LHC is scheduled to go on line in June…CERN scientists claim that they have considered this possibility and that it is not going to happen.

I am glad that they at least considered the possibility.

However, just in case they are wrong, you might consider bumping up your summer plans.
