Pityriasis Rosea

As if I needed more problems…

For the past few weeks I have had the most irritated skin on my back, arms and legs. I found myself waking up in the middle of the night clawing at my arms and legs. During the day it was impossible to sit still. It felt like I was covered with mosquitoes.

I first thought it was dry skin from the long winter. But it was not getting any better no matter how much girly moisturizer I put on. It’s been bugging me for a number of weeks now so I finally went to the doctor yesterday for a diagnosis.

From some website:

Sometimes the disease can cause a more severe skin reaction. Some patients with this disease will have some itching that can be severe, especially when the patient becomes overheated. Occasionally there may be other symptoms, including tiredness and aching. The rash usually fades and disappears within six weeks but can sometimes last much longer. Physical activity, like jogging or running, or bathing in hot water may cause the rash to temporarily worsen or reappear.

That explains a lot.

The condition is caused by a virus. The condition is not contagious. There is no medication to fight the virus, it just goes away on it’s own. The skin disease is treated with Prednisone.

So I am on a corticosteroid now. Time to jump start the training program!

All you guys ain’t gonna believe how fast I am now. See you bitches next Tuesday night.

Is it the cream or the clear?

Are you going to need a new helmet when your head grows three sizes?

Ya, but physical activity makes it worse. You’l last one lap and have to pull to the infield, strip down, and roll around like a dog to get some relief.

I’ve been on triamcinolone cream for three months. Unfortunately I don’t think it helps, and I might fail a dope test…

Cortisone actually causes atrophy, not hypertrophy. It’s great for joint injuries and allergic reactions, but you probably won’t find too much of it in the lockers of Chinese swimmers or whoever.

AHA! This sounds exactly like what I’ve been dealing with all this winter. The only thing that really works is to not scratch it! I have been continuing to apply lotion, mostly because it helps to resist the scratching. I still haven’t completely licked it though, but it has improved alot.

Tuff Ride dude, always the Tuff Ride.

BTW, I don’t call it the Tuff Guy Ride anymore since there are women on that ride that kick my ass.

Have you been checked for Celiac Disease? Could it be Dermititus Hepiformas instead? It does run in the gene pool (Irish curse?)

I was diagnosed with PR in October 2007. Although I had PR since May of 2007. I continued to shrug it off as eczema. Once diagnosed I was given a cream that I agree did not help. So, I started reading about different research information. I decided to go the herbal way. So here’s my suggestion

The itching, My GOD the itching is so BAD!! But most of all I’m having more problems with clearing up the spots left behind.

Tee Tree Oil Ointment - it comes in a 1.oz container (If you can find it bigger let me know)

Calendula Cream - Good for clearing up the spots on your body period.

Shea Butter (Natural) - Good for moisturizing your skin.

Last but not least, I found that using soap was irritating so, I stop using soap and only taking bath/showers once a week using hair shampoo (Head Shoulders is Great!!) and I would squirt 1 or 2 drops in my bath water (while water is running) or on my rag (shower). I did wash off everyday with just water. After all of this my skin feels like a babies bottom. Since the irritation and breakout have passed I use a natural colloidal soap with shea and natural oatmeal for moisture. Listen I’m sure if this same method will help other but thanks for letting me share.

Hi http://www.pityriasisrosearelief.com I have had pityriasis for about a month now, and the pain & itch are round-th-clock and un-
bearable. I have tried Calamine lotion, acupuncture, Chinese herbs and Phenergan. Also
Paracetanol, which takes the pain away for 4 hrs. It leaves me very tired. I would be ecstatic if you would share you success story, and name(s) of treatment(s). Thanking you in anticipation. Sincerely, Sandra @ sandy.mcg@bigpond.com 4 Nov. ‘08
