That’s all folks

December 29th, 2007 | Posted by Smithers at 10:50 pm in Miscellaneous |

Round about four years ago I started blogging. Blogs were new to me at the time and I was curious to give it a try. The 2004 election was fast approaching and I made a lot of political posts during the build up to November. I was totally depressed regarding the outcome of the election for a few months and lost the motivation to keep blogging. In the spring of 2005 I began to write again but this time it was more about cycling and my general point of view regarding life. Since that time I have experienced the birth of my son and the birth of my daughter and now, it appears, the birth of a new job.

I have been kicking around the idea of discontinuing the blog for some time now. I thought about keeping it on and just blogging less, or just keeping a photo blog. But I know that if I kept this site going I would not be able to resist the obsession to feed the beast. It’s better for me to call it done and walk away.

I’ve enjoyed the last four years immensely and I am really happy that I had this outlet for my thoughts. But it’s time to move on. There are numerous other projects, personal and professional, that I need to focus on for the next few years. Plus I think (dis) told me once that all the really cool dudes stopped blogging a long time ago. I am always trying to keep up with what the really cool dudes are doing. It’s pretty pathetic, but I try.

Anyway, thanks to all who read for the past 4 years. Sorry to leave you in the lurch, I’m sure you will find something else to keep you occupied during the day. I recommend my friends at Bike Throw for local cycling stuff.

Have a great 2008. See you on the boards.

Congratulations for having the courage to walk away. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I’m sure you’ll feel the same.

    Well done, sir.

unfortunately, blogging is the new not blogging.

    you’ll catch up eventually.

plus, you forgot to mention in your eulogy that you used your blog to tell us that your parents live in a tree.

Sounds good to me. I was wonderin’ what new job Smithers has. I bet he’s some type of door-to-door salesman.

All nine T-Mobile riders who competed on the 2006 Tour de France have been accused of doping by one of the world’s leading experts in the field.

    Comments?

What does “leading experts in the field” mean?

“According to information I have, the entire T-Mobile team went to the University Clinic Freiburg and resorted to blood transfusions,” Franke told a German radio station.

“This information is considered so compromising that for the moment there has been no inquiry.”
