2007

I thought those Belgies and Dutch were supposed to be experts at cross. At the 2007 Worlds they were pretty much experts at eating shit.

The more I watch this DVD the more it looks like Jonathan Page ran an almost perfect race. It’s really amazing how he was so able to stay out of trouble. He just could not hold off Vervecken at then end though.

Will he ever be that close again?

CX Worlds is worth watching every year. These normally calm, composed, and smooth riders have an unusual fear in their eyes. Huge crowds and tremendous pressure to win always make for a crazy race. It’s also really the only time that the best CX’ers from all over show up and bring their ‘A’ game.

Last year I think Nys had a flat, and Wellens had the worst luck when another rider clipped that barrier causing it to be in Wellens path and make him crash. There were some po’ed people over the course setup on that one.

As far as Page, sadly he probably won’t get that close again.

maybe they announced that drug testing was going 6-deep so guys started doing stupid shit to get out of the race.. I saw that in france back in the day; i’d do a night crit with big money.. midway they’d announce a drug test and all the sudden i’m in the front of the pack contending primes and finale.. the favorites either flatted out or slid out in corners..
