I was in Colorado last week and one gave me the finger.

It was pretty hard to see, though.

    Desperate for controversy?

I’ll bite… not with an answer, but a question.

The Prolife movement makes takes the position that it is a person and uses it as a basis to picket, protest, threaten and even attacks abortion clinics for this reason. Yet I have never seen the same sort of reaction to fertility clinics which by practice fertilize and dispose of fertilized eggs as part of their business plan.

    Why the discrimination?

Deliberate termination of an unwanted unborn

    versus

leftovers from attempts to create life where nature might have otherwise prevented it(?)

(you’re spot on with the hypocrisy in that belief line, though)

Or you could also ask: Where are the Pro-Life protestors at executions? Are criminals not human life, too?

Bill - Don’t know about other main stream churches but… The Roman Catholic position is pretty consistant. In other words they are against fertility practices like in vitro, et. al that could produce excess embryos. (Note this is not to defend the RC church, just pointing out that at least they have a consistan message.)

But… Yes I agree with you and kruse… it is a major hypocrisy of the the Pro-Life movement. Then again they’re not really about pro-life but just want to punish those who don’t follow their idea of what is moral behavior.

Is the Pro-Life mob just god’s bad yolk on us all?

yeah the Roman Catholic Church is “against” in vitro, but they also have one of the largest in vitro clinics in Chicago through some weird off the books funding I think through Loyola University. But of course there’s also the rumors of euthanizing the Pope. However the clinic is more than rumor. It definitely exists.

Overall, their pro-life stance is the most credible: against abortion, invitro, war in Iraq and capital punishment. Not bad. I think it’s really cool they fire teachers for having invitro. Heck, it’s grounds for ex-communication.

Me, I think life begins when you get your first Campag gruppo. That or first sew-ups. I guess I am undecided. Either way, I am okay on abortion through the Intermediate (Juniors 14-15) license.
