No, but I am very very curious about it and have been WAITING for you to blog about it! (Sure, I could’ve blogged an inquiry about it, but your blog draws all the technophiles.)

I’ve used Skype but not with video, I just got a camera and need to try it out, but I don’t want to call some random person…

I’ve not used Skype’s video, but have used others… the only odd thing is since everybody stares at the screen, they never look you in the eyes.

Not a big deal, just one of those little oddities…

I have used it one-way (don’t have a camera on my end) to communicate with an office in HK. Works fairly well, but Skype functions better without the added bandwidth used for the video (so when I don’t need the video part we turn it off).

Not video but… Skype with Unyte (sadly bought by IBM) has been nice. Able to share your computer’s desktop with coworkers while talking. Helps when your teammates are in different places (e.g. working from home, other city, etc.)

In my case (software development) helps with code reviews, and other collaboration.

pcomeau, which video conf. program/service have you preferred? We’ve been using EasyShare VC, but it’s rather pricey (hence my interest in Skype).

Pro - Sametime, MS, PolyCom (iirc)

Free - Mac IM (so AIM but OS X has video too.)

Haven’t tried Skype yet, but based on how it works, as long as your network can handle the bandwidth it looks like a good product.
