There is one type of red light I don’t observe, and it’s at T-shaped intersections (uppercase, of course), when I am riding at the top.

The cyclist’s lane state doesn’t change based on the circumstances. A vehicle overtaking from the rear is free to do so, and I don’t see it making any difference if it’s coming from the left. I also see no reason to queue up behind backed-up traffic at a stop — if a car can pass me, the opposite must be true as well.

Unless you plan on reporting all riders (team affiliated or not) who you witness violate traffic laws, I don’t see the point of this post.

I was told this weekend that if a cop busts you running a red light on your bike, it counts as a moving violation on your driving record.

(Dana Carvey as Johnny Carson): “I did not know that”.

Run a red light? For God’s sakes a red light in Minnesota is merely a suggestion. You people run ‘em from a block away. Smithers, you’re being like the assholes who call in on City trucks even though they encounter much worse driving than what we do.

Could it be the bike? Nobody riding a BMC can seem to follow the rules…….

Actually, if you had an iPhone, you would have been giddy with excitement just toting it around in your hand, either interwebbing at a coffeeshop or preening your anti-look look in the reflection off the screen.

    Two more days until Shadow

as the recipient of many many bike tickets, i can tell you this:

a bike ticket will never affect your DL.

BUT! most times, lazy cops don’t bother to mention it was on a bike, so it get filed as if you were driving a car.

so, make sure it get noted properly, call and follow up, and then don’t bother to pay it.

bicycle ticket do not go to warrant, or affect your DL status.

Cat 6 kit and a BMC? Could have very well been former Cat 6er, Tuffy McSabotage. Let’s all assume.

Kidding. Don’t get all worked up, Tuffette. I know you sold your team kit.

Thanks for the heads up Smithers. As the Directeur Sportif, I’ll take appropriate action. Any Cat 6er caught running red lights like this will be forced to wear an ugly ass Urthel kit for the rest of the season.
