Once he’s standing alone on the world’s center stage as the Republican Presidential Candidate, he will finally be in the spotlight to answer for his actions. FIRE AWAY !!

Well, I already knew he was a douchebag, that was just piling on with seven minutes on a point that takes maybe one to spell out.

Rudy is among the least of my worries among all the presidential front-runners.

Willard Mitt Romney reminds me of John Kerry. They’re the so-called electable candidate, with no particular reason offered. Both from Massachusetts, both wealthy, both complete tools — Romney just takes it a step further by selling out his entire ideology, and not just “saying anything to get elected.” Romney may trail nationally, but being ahead in Iowa and NH is not a good thing.

Fred Thompson reminds me of a certain presidential candidate with a lazy, completely unjustified sense of entitlement that everyone just wants to grant him. Every Republican since 1980 has claimed to be the next Ronald Reagan, but this year GW gets to hand the Ronny tiara over to Fredo, and this guy is like an empty vessel controlled by the Sith lords at RNC HQ.

Just another lame liberal swipe at a great Republican leader.

Where was Hauer when 9/11 went down? Not in charge of emergency management, that’s where. He totally has an ax to grind, and you see it here in this video.

All the other commenters are simply playing arm-chair quaterback. It’s easy to criticize the decisions of great leaders like Rudy when you don’t have to make the tough decisions yourself.

Finally, this is all a product of the liberal media. Why aren’t they talking about all of the good things happening in the Rudy campaign? The Giulani campaign is making progress, strong progress, and the surge in his poll numbers should continue on through Spring and to his victory over terrorists and Democrats in November ‘08.

So who exactly is filling the coffers of “brave new films production” to execute this sort of character assasination?

really, smithers, I thought you had higher standards than this.

(for the record, I flat out don’t like the idea of Giuliani in the white house, but for other reasons - but this sort of propaganda spreading is bullshit and you know it…)

    Kruser, you big Giuliani lover.

Character assassination? You have to have character in order for it to be assassinated.

Giuliani is hanging his presidential aspirations on how he handled 9/11. If he is trying to “own” 9/11 then he needs to take ownership of the whole thing, including his numerous screw-ups.

I don’t see how this is propaganda.

Agreed, and no one seems to remember that he was a pretty crappy mayor of the City of New York prior to 9/11 - so I agree with you and this is why I don’t think he’ll make a good prez.

I think it’s fair to say that a lot of lessons were learned on 9/11. Honestly, if bones are gonna be picked over what happened, it seems to me that the productive bones to pick are the ones regarding foreign policy errors made by the Bush and Clinton and Bush and Reagan administrations, etc. etc. (all administrations dating back to Wilson, IMHO) that led to Islamic extremist groups taking such a violent stance against western countries. Getting all pissy about decisions made in the heat of an emergency that no one really anticipated seems pretty petty. (the implication that nepotism, mutual back scratching and pork barrel politics somehow contributed to more firefighters dying? show me a politician on a national level that hasn’t engaged in similar activities. Really. I’m not gonna hold my breath while you try to mull that one)

Consider the source. Would you quote Focus on the Family if they went on a baseless attack on a candidate you didn’t like? It’s a Utube video. Any hack with a video editing program can chop up some soundbites and make it look presentable. No offense, but you referencing this is like a college kid using a Wikipedia entry as a source for a term paper. The information may be somewhat correct but it’s not an appropriate use because of the source…

Yes, yes, yes…. unfortunately character is indeed a relative term and a lack thereof does indeed qualify as character, as disconcerting as that is.

    No one anticipated? Come on.

The WTC had already been attacked in 1993. Everyone knew that it was a terrorist target. It was the last place that the NYC emergency command center should have been located. Never-the-less, Giuliani got his wish for the center to be built at 7 WTC.

So, with the WTC attacked again on 9/11 and the 7 WTC center out of action, a crucial tool for the management of the emergency was not available. Did this result in additional firefighters dying? I am sure of it.

show me a politician on a national level that hasn’t engaged in similar activities.

Happens all the time. Look at Mayor Ray Nagin in NOL before and during Hurricane Katrina. He was neglect in preparing his city for the coming disaster because he did not want to upset the business community.

All politicians, regardless of party, need to be held responsible for these types of decisions.
