Coleman Jumps on the Bandwagon

August 29th, 2007 | Posted by jim r at 4:09 pm in Mobile Post |

Norm Coleman calling for Sen. Larry Craig’s resignation for soliciting sex in MSP International Airport:  “Senator Craig pled guilty to a crime involving conduct unbecoming a senator.”

Norm Coleman regarding his 81 year-old father having been caught engaging in sex with a 38 year-old woman in the parking lot behind Red’s Savoy Pizza:  “He clearly has some issues that need to be dealt with, and I will encourage him to seek the necessary help.”

So for his father, it is a psychological disease that needs treatment.  For Sen. Craig, it is a crime and he needs to be banished from his community for his activities.

Is it a fair comparison?  Is it apples-to-oranges?  What are the differences?  Similarities?

I’d say they’re similar in that imagining either Coleman’s dad or Larry Craig naked gives me the heebee-geebees.

Being a liberal (for want of a better way to classify myself), my initial reaction was “one more case of attempting to regulate sexuality and to brand homosexuality as the work of the devil or something stupid like that. Hell, even the 1920’s were more sexually relaxed than the prissy, self-righteous prudes dominating our society today.”

But, being a liberal and having an open enough mind to listen to the opposition, I have to admit that the radio announcer this morning made a very good point. This isn’t exactly exposing (no pun intended) kids to positive examples of sexuality. In fact, it emphasizes the dirty, seedy side of sexuality.

So no-it’s not really the same. It’s probably a lot less likely some little kid will have to wander around the parking lot all alone because his mom isn’t allowed to be there with him.

They’re both seedy, but at least the *ew* saggy, wrinkly 81 yr old probably wasn’t reaching his hand under the car door right next to a little kid.

One is a public figure. One is the father of a public figure. It’s not the same.
Besides, Norm’s Dad is dead. Show some respect!

Well the bible does call it a sin – does it not?

I didn’t know “bees knees” was another way of saying douche bag. I’ve got to keep up with the jargon a little better.

    Uh oh:
“In May, Burnsville police arrested six men for indecent exposure along Black Dog Road adjacent to Interstate 35W through the Minnesota National Wildlife Refuge.”

The article goes on to say: “The men were stripping down completely from work clothes and changing into tight-fitting, form revealing lycra skinsuits with no underwear.”

Yeah, and then you got GOoPers who were fine with Vitter seeing hookers and getting them to change his diaper. No one stripped Vitter of any leadership posts.

But be a male GOP senator and get caught trying to get a plain-clothed cop at the airport to suck you off?

    End of the fuckin’ world.

There are many ways to spell hypocrite, and GOP is one of those ways.
