Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID)

Lewd conduct?

Read the police report.

Maybe something is going on there, I don’t know. Maybe Craig is gay and was looking for a hook up, I don’t know.

But if Craig is probably guilty of anything it would be hypocrisy in being an anti-gay legislator while being gay.

Tapping your foot and waving your hand? Does not seem to rise to the level of Interference with Privacy and Disorderly Conduct to me.

Are the Minneapolis Airport Police just a bunch of arrest happy assholes?

They were investigating reports of ‘lewd’ behavior, so it would seem people were complaining, and his actions were clear attempts at a hook-up. But yes, the real crime is the hypocritical anti-gay legislation and lies.

I realize we are talking about consensual sex, but it is in public. I may be guilty of the same thing myself, if not with another guy, but if you are going to do something enjoyable-but-illegal, please do so discreetly. It is not so overreaching for the cops to shut down a “hotspot” that was drawing complaints. As for the why, I imagine this is not unlike the solicitation laws for prostitution, no intercourse required: “I was just giving her a ride home.”

Moving on, I agree to the apathy about his sexual preferences, and the note of hypocrisy in the overall view. It is people like this (including Haggard and this guy with an even more absurd and racist excuse) that only give credence to the idea that homophobes are just closeted gays.

It’s so exciting when the Twin Cities make national news!

That’s exactly what it is. The airport cops were doing their job.

BTW: I went to college with the cop who witnessed the incident. They taught “homosexual innuendos” semester two of junior year. Or something.

    Tuffy,
Was the Cop Brian R who was Pete’s roommate?

My mistake — my college connection was in fact the arresting officer. His name is all over the document linked to by Smithers. Long answer short, it wasn’t Brian R.
