I didn’t want to do this, but recent events have forced my hand. Here is the official “Code civil des Homme”:
1 Do NOT take shit posted online personal
2 Do NOT take your own opinion or self too seriously
3 Defend your position with intellectual honesty
4 Respect is earned, not automatically granted
5 One good flame deserves another
6 Posts and comments are NEVER deleted
7 Do NOT post anonymously
8 I settle ALL disputes
1 and 2 can be a challenge, but I am always up for a challenge. 3 should not be a problem. 4, np. 5, yes. 6, absolutely should go without saying. 7, ditto. 8…well, it is his code I guess.
I am very depressed today.
Good thing I have track racing to look forward to tonight. Even with poor fitness it’s a lot of fun. Most everyone is so happy at the track. You can’t help but come home from the velodrome with a smile and a positive attitude.
That is until the next morning when we start crapping all over ourselves once again. Oh well.
I am going to talk to Timmer tonight and see what’s up with him.
I don’t think I’m cool enough for the tent ‘n chairs squad. That’s why I sit on the fucking bench. I’m pretty sure they won’t miss me. Why would they? Tent ‘n chairs.
Next year I am going to bring a shovel out to the track and build a dugout. Only us schlumps who come to the track for a good time will be welcome to sit in the dugout. It will be below ground so we don’t interrupt the sight line of those fans who want to see the ten ‘n chairs squad. It will also allow the tent ‘n chairs squad to be able to yell at the officials unimpeded.
Dugout. That’s what I say.
The season is winding down at the track and that always makes me feel a bit low. I have a really wonderful time out there each week. It’s been a bit tough since I’ve lost a bit of fitness. Normally I would not bother racing at all if I did not think I had the fitness to be competitive. But track racing is different. I enjoy just being out there and riding laps, even if I can’t be one of the fast guys.
Next year should be better. I don’t need a lot of time to train and be competitive, just a couple of workouts a week. You can do a lot with a little on the track. Develop a good sprint, hang in there when it’s tough, you never know what could happen. Maybe next year I will focus on power and endurance and work on being able to ride away from the field instead of worrying about the sprint. That can be fun.
Tonight is the State Championship Points Race. That should be fun. There’s lots of fast guys right now. I’ll be enjoying the view from the back. I’ll probably get lapped, probably more than once. But I’ll have a good time.
Personality type: Pseudo-intellectual
You’re liberal and consider yourself to be laid back and open minded. Everyone else just thinks you’re clueless. Your friends hate you because you always email them virus warnings and chain letters “just in case it’s true.” All people who drink grande non fat chai latte are potheads.
