Just so you know:

The new perimeter area around the scene is much smaller than the original and is being secured with fences at least 8 feet high, as well as motion detectors and cameras that allow police monitoring via the city’s wireless network.

Martin said that 16 people have been arrested for crossing or attempting to cross the perimeter, including two people on Tuesday. “You’re not going to get anywhere near it without being arrested,” he said.

People should leave the workers alone and let them do their jobs. If you’re not there to help, have some respect for the workers, the victims and their families. The police have enough to do without chasing away gawkers.

Maybe some of them are relatives of the missing who just want to be near the site? Otherwise, go home and get out of the way.

It’s human nature to want to see what is going on. Look at the popularity in seeing the WTC site in NYC.

I am not, however, advocating that people break the law or interfere with the recovery.

we are a nation of gawkers, americans sit around on their fat asses watching reality tv, going to movies, eating buttered popcorn and sitting on their fat asses, going to baseball games and football games watching steroid freaks while feeding their rotund faces and sitting on their fat asses. Even driving a car is a gawking experience, sit on their fat asses blabbing on the phone, watching. There is no virtue in doing anymore, it’s about the self-indulgent, lazy, living in the suburbs fat-asses…

IMHO, it’s quite unlikely that people who are at the site to get a good photo to post online, particularly if they are knowingly breaking the law to do so, are missing a friend or relative.
