BD Speaks

Monday, May 14th, 2007

The other side of the story surfaces.

Can I really argue with anything that BD wrote in his comment? Nope.

I made a mistake, he reacted to it and I reacted to his reaction.

What is regretful to me is that apparently neither of us found a way to communicate like adults and resolve this situation. BD went off on me and I put up an immediate road block to allow him to move past his anger and resolve the situation. If we would have found a way to resolve this whole thing at the track that same night then none of this would have ever been interesting enough to bother writing about.

Lessons learned. Dammit, I hate learning lessons.

Do I respect BD? Sure. He stepped up and presented his argument and now he and I can talk about it (if he wishes) calmly and rationally.

Should I have blogged about it? I still think so. Look how everything turned out. And look how entertaining this whole situation was for everyone.

I know that there has been some discussion out there that “Smithers is such a whiner” and blah blah blah. Welcome to the reality that Mrs. Smithers has been dealing with for the last 8 years. You think I am a whiner on the blog, ask her what it’s like to put up with me in person on a daily basis. Not pretty…

Anyway, I’m ready to attempt to serve my Homme punishment.

Blog rulez

Monday, May 14th, 2007

So the discussion about last Thursday night’s adventure at the track generated a few comments regarding what may and may not be appropriate blog topic material.

My opinion has always been that if something happens in public, it’s public material and I can write about it and discuss it with those who may have had absolutely no connection to the incident what-so-ever. However, if something happens in private, or in the course of a private conversation, then I will check with the other parties to assure that they would be comfortable with me writing about it. Until I get the sign off from the parties involved I won’t discuss it.

Some state that, since I have a “popular blog” (what ever that means) I should be more sensitive regarding the topics that I chose to write about. More people read the topic, more people are affected by my comments regarding the topic, my comments may negatively affect others involved with the topic so more people might develop negative (or positive I suppose) ideas about others involved in the topic that had nothing to do with the original issue at hand.

What say you?
