Things are still very murky here.

I hope to have some clarity in the next few days. In the mean time it’s like walking on thin ice.

MapMyRide.com

This website employs Google Maps to allow the user to create a ride route detailing distance and elevation. It is a bit more sophisticated than GMaps Pedometer. You can create an account and save your routes for later use. It also allows you to create a GPS file of your custom ride route that you can then download to your GPS device.

The best thing about this site? Totally free. Totally awesome.

Check out an example of one of my routes here. I have loaded this route into my GPS unit for the next time the Urthels ride out Stillwater way.

CyclingNews.com

Discovery Channel Team has declared itself to be “surprised,” “disappointed and saddened” by Ivan Basso’s disclosure that he was involved with Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes, “prior to being signed as a member” of the team. Directeur Sportif Johann Bruyneel called it “an unfortunate situation” for the team.

Oh please.

It’s the teams that create the pressure and the conditions that allow doping to occur. I believe that, instead of the riders enduring total responsibility and punishment for doping, the teams should also face suspension and fines for their riders doping offenses.

The current situation is clearly not working and things are not getting better, far from it. If professional cycling is serious about cleaning up (which I am skeptical that they are) they need to start applying pressure in a different place.
