Rollins began his career at 11 years old in 1941. H is still touring and recording to this day at 77 years old. This is an amazing feat considering the devastation that drugs and alcohol made upon almost all his contemporaries. Rollins himself had drug problems but was able to kick his habit by 1953.
In 1956 Rollins would record the album that would provide him with a nickname for the balance of his life: Saxophone Colossus. If you are interested in checking out Rollins’ work I would start there.
I thought I was going to be all keyed up for the spring road races this year but when the weekend starts to approach I find myself looking for excuses not to go race.
What with the Excelsior Criterium being postponed until whenever I guess my racing debut is going to be May 17th at the velodrome. As a matter of fact, velodrome racing is pretty much all I have planed until the State Criterium on June 3.
So come out to the track on May 17 and watch me quack out my first egg of the racing season.
