The very fast French train is now even faster. This train could go from Minneapolis to New York City in less than 3.5 hours and to LA in less than 5.5 hours.
Why don’t we have something like this? Fast, (relatively) cheap, convenient. Think about how much more accessible this country would be if we could travel around without an arduous and dangerous drive in the car or the utter nightmare than modern air travel has become.
If you think of dogs and cats as members of the family, you might figure you could collect damages for pain and suffering if they were to die because of wrongdoing.
The law in California and many other states sees things differently. Pets are treated as personal property, like cars and computers.
But that could be changing.
They are talking about changing the law so that pets owners are considered “guardians” of the pet. This would have the effect of giving pet owners more rights to sue for their pain and suffering damage should anything happen to the pet.
My sister is going through this process right now with her cat due to the Menu Foods recall. The cat is still not out of the woods and my sister is upset about it and none too stoked about the vet bill so far.
What do you think? Should pet owners only be compensated for the financial loss due to negligent harm to their pet or is there an emotional issue that should be taken into account?
Sunday weigh in put me at 187.4 pounds. My maximum weight during the off season was 194.3 pounds.
That means that Der Kruiser wins the challenge! Your fabulous prize awaits!
UPDATE 1:27pm: A late protest from Anonymous proves that Der Kruiser did not win the challenge after all. Plan B made the closer guess at 195 pounds. Sorry for the confusion.
I have quickly realized that writing all about myself might be totally interesting to the rest of the world, but it is mind crushingly boring for me. So I have decided to go back to blogging about topics that interest me instead of things that interest you. Sorry. I guess I can expect my readership to go back to the anemic levels that they were at before yesterday’s big change. Oh well.
I give those of you who blog about nothing other than yourself all the credit in the world. I don’t know how you do it. While your blog continues to delve deeply into all the fascinating aspects that have to do with yourself, I guess my blog is just going to continue to languish in the pits of boredom.
