better…better get a bucket.

So as opposed to clocking up huge miles I am sleeping and making regular trips to the bathroom due to some kind of stomach bug. All the typical symptoms are on hand.

Sorry I have not had more updates, yacking up takes away from the creative process.

I liked Strats post idea but I have no idea where the various fitness levels are at so anything I would say regarding local cycling would be BS. Not that it usually stops me from commenting anyway. Instead of comments on individual riders I will comment on teams:

Flanders: No real changes. Will win the same number of races as last year. Strong on the road but a big zero on the track where all the real hard racing can be found.

SPBRC: Rebuilding year. Strong in masters categories but a question mark in the elite races. Will be good or will suck buttock. Phana is 100% responcible either way.

Silver Cycling: Large influx of new riders from other teams will cause massive chaos. Team will flounder for a year getting in all sorted out. Some feelings will be hurt, few will care. Two disaplines will be no probelm however: TT (Timmer) and track (Flooder). Snide might crash but it won’t be his fault. It never is…

Loon State: Strong masters team will be very successful. Cullen has already ridden a century this year. Elite team, do they have one? Track squad will be “ok” if Donimator trains. Skibby has been doing his 3am roller rides. It’s too bad they don’t promote more races though…I think there is one or two events on the calender that they don’t run. Team goal is to get Macy to the end of the season without a broken bone.

Birchwood: Still reeling from the loss of Brick. Team will rally and win a few races here and there but not much will happen for them until they bring back the pink. They lost their only good track rider. He’s good because he’s faster then me.

LGR: New kids on the block. Motivated, dedicated, eye of the tiger. New bikes, clean kit, espirit d’corps. These guys don’t win a single race in ‘07 but they look good not doing so.

Cat 6: I would have said a rebuilding year as well, due to the loss of some riders to LGR, but those dudes sucked anyway so it’s the same as last year. Strong track squad. Chronic depression in team due to sad jersey colors. These guys will mope to some success this year.

Other teams: No one cares.

Urthel: Wins every Tuesday night training ride. Struggles to finish a road race. Wipes up the boards with Super-Rookie’s ass. Will constantly be worried if other riders take them seriously due to little gnome on jersey. Answer: no.

There you go. And here I go back to talk to the dinasaurs on the big porcelain phone.

Terror by rail

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

How come terrorism on the rails is not more popular with the terror crowd?

I know that the Madrid bombings of March 2004 were quite effective, but why are terrorist not using this method of attack more often?

I was amazed at the almost complete lack of security when I traveled from Lyon to Paris by train last January. It seems to me that it would be very easy to sneak some kind of device onto a TGV train and cause massive damage. So why is it not happening?

Is attacking rail far to pedestrian for terrorists? Are they looking to make a more sensational statement by trying to use the much more difficult to procure aircraft attack method?

Are rails more closely associated to Europeans which might dilute the message of an attack directed more towards the United States?

Is rail security actually much tighter than visual observation would notice?

It seems like it would be so easy from my observation. There has to be a reason why it is not taking place.
