– “Designated Sprinter” Tempo and Points Race: Only one of the two team mates is eligible to collect points during the race. The other team mate can work to set up their team mate for the sprint or work to deny sprint points to other teams. Designated Sprinter must be declared before the start of the race and will wear a special helmet cover to distinguish them from the non-sprinter team mate.

Prosecutors Purge

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Replacing U.S. attorneys when a new administration comes into power (1989 Bush, 1993 Clinton, 2001 Bush) is not unusual.

What is unusual is the firing of U.S. attorneys during the course of an administration. Keep in mind that these attorneys were nominated by the Bush administration, so it’s not like they are purging partisans from a previous administration.

What is troubling is the fact that these attorneys were pressured, via the White House, to indict Democrats just before the 2006 election. It is also troubling that attorneys were fired during the course of the Jack Abramoff and Duke Cunningham investigations.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Smack Podcast

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Coming up later this afternoon is the first episode of the Smack Podcast.

You’ll be able to listen directly off the site or download to your iPod and listen while you are riding the trainer tonight.

I put this thing together last night since I couldn’t sleep anyway. It took a surprising amount of work but I am sure that I will be able to streamline things as I produce more of these.

Touch your own bacon

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Strib:

Some Muslims in the Twin Cities are adhering to a strict interpretation of the Qur’an that prohibits the handling of pork products.

Instead of swiping the items themselves, they are asking non-Muslim employees or shoppers to do it for them.

Find
Another
Job

Look, this is not an anti-Muslim position for me. I don’t have any problem with the Muslim faith, or any faith, so long as it does not impact my daily life. But if your religious convictions are preventing you from getting your job done then go do something else.

Or Target should set up a “No Bacon” lane at checkout.

Super-Rookie and (dis) pencer will now explain how wrong I am about everything.
