Troubled Nerd

How things can change in just 18 months.

Ohio Supercomputer Center Grooming Next Generation of Scientists:

Taylor Killian, a 17 year old from Westerville, Ohio, says he loves computers and has been working with them since he was 12 years old. Taylor says his experience at the OSC Summer Institute will give him an advantage as he completes high school and enters college. He starts his junior year at Westerville North High School this fall.

“It’s been really fun, and we got to experiment with so many things here that most people can’t even imagine and they’re all using supercomputing to create these things,” Taylor said. They showed us so many different career opportunities in the computer science field and how we can use what we’ve learned here to help us in the future. I definitely want to have a career in computer science.”

What a bight and industrial boy! Such a good role model for the rest of a nations youth.

Or, maybe not. AP:

Taylor Killian, 18, had rubbed his body with grapeseed oil to keep from being caught, and got up after the first time he was shocked to continue running toward a group of frightened students huddled in a corner at Westerville North High School, Lt. Jeff Gaylor said.

“That prank went a little farther than he intended, I guess,” Gaylor said.

Officer Doug Staysniak was monitoring the lunch period when Killian, with long hair and a full beard, ran in the room toward students, who screamed and ran away. The officer is normally assigned to a middle school and did not recognize Killian as a student, Gaylor said.

Police said that an administrator ordered Killian to stop, but that the student made a sexual gesture and kept running.

Killian is in jail and charged with inducing panic, public indecency, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. A message seeking comment was left at Killian’s home.

Humm…You know, you just can’t trust those computer nerds. Everything will be just fine and then one of them will snap, grease up and run around naked.

I am frightened to think what goes on dork central where Skibby and Der Kruiser are employed.

What is a dislocated shoulder?

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Instability is usually defined as a clinical syndrome which occurs when a shoulder is loose enough to produce symptoms. It can refer to either outright dislocation where the upper arm bone comes out of the socket or to a more subtle slipping of the humeral head within the socket, a condition known as subluxation.

I am pretty sure that I am suffering from outright dislocation.

Now that your ligaments have been stretched, you may wonder if your shoulder will dislocate again. The answer to that partly depends on how well you heal and whether or not you have another injury. However, your tendency to dislocate will be strongly influenced by your age at the time of first dislocation.

Yea, I am not doing much “wondering” if it will dislocate again.

55% for me.

If you dislocate again and again, and if you find that your shoulder problem is interfering with your life style, it may be a good idea to arrange for surgery so you can get your loose and unstable shoulder capsule tightened up and/or repair any torn ligaments. This may be especially important if you normally enjoy participating in sports.

I guess we shall see what the doctor says on Tuesday.

Rats from the sinking ship

John Lelangue, former manager team Phonak, on Floyd Landis:

I have endured an enormous deception, a true human treason on the part of Landis.
