Walking
Friday, January 19th, 2007Baby Smithers has been walking around quite a lot recently.
This morning he picked up one of his favorite books and walked with it from the living room through the dining room and across the kitchen where I was sitting eating breakfast. He was working so very hard to keep his balance and I was so proud that he was able to make it the whole way. He finally delivered the book to me and it brought a tear to my eye that he would work so hard just to have his dad read him a book. What great father and son bonding, I thought to myself as I opened the book and began to read to him. Baby Smithers brought dad his favoite book and dad was now going to read to his son.
I was not even through the first page when he turned and walked away, totally uninterested in the book and me.
It seems the goal is walking and walking alone. What ever I wanted to do with his book was apparently of no concern to him. He had better places to be.
