Madonna

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

I have never been a big Madonna fan. Her music was way to pop for my taste and her image from the 1980’s turned me off from the start. So when her Confessions Tour concert on the teevee was advertised in November I did not give it too much thought initially. After seeing some of the previews I started to get a bit intrigued because I was seeing something different than fit with my preconceptions. So I watched it and was pretty entertained.

She has a unique ability to transform herself and fit with the times while still maintain an identity that is uniquely her own. I guess that’s what separates the real talent from the flash in the pan/one hit wonder types. I appreciate talent in just about any form. It’s still popular music, but pop music is ok sometimes when you just want to crank up the volume and not think too much.

Plus, how many 50 year old women with two kids do you normally see with moves like this? That Saturday Night Fever dance routine is pretty hot.

BMX

Is BMX the cycling equivalent of t-ball?

Shouldn’t those over the age of 16 race a real bike instead of 20” and 24” wheeled little toy bikes?

No offense to those who think that “BMX is where it is at.”

Lizard Brains

Josh Marshall:

The Iraq War is one of the few things that rivals his unpopularity. And the public, after signaling deep opposition to the war at the polls, sees this extremely unpopular president come before them to announce that he’s expanding the really unpopular war. And if that’s not enough he has the quavering look of a degenerate gambler begging his wife, half cockily half desperately, for one more chance.

Shocking that it didn’t come off well.

Nine years ago the media was talking about whether President Clinton should resign because of his low polling numbers. President Bush’s numbers are lower now than Clinton’s were then. Here any talk about resignation? I don’t.

Must be that liberal media bias.

Campus Crit

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Super-Rookie reports to me that the Campus Criterium will be returning in 2007 on August 5th courtesy of the Grumpy’s/Little Guy Racing team.

They are going to have $10 primes on all of the final 10 laps of the race.

It’s going to be a different course than has been used in the past and rumor has it that there will even be a climb. Hopefully that dumb hairpin final turn won’t be used.
