Traveling is an experience we should all treasure. It doesn’t matter if we are going up the street to 4bucks for a pumpkin loaf, or whipping out our passports and going around the globe to 6bucks on the other side of the Earth – as seen here in Seoul. Recently I went to Korea. Why? Because I could. I told myself I was going to try everything that I was offered and I think I did a pretty good job of it. Normally I am not a very risky eater, I am just pretty lazy about it. So I sampled everything that was put in front of me. Maybe they are not too adventurous compared to stuff you’ve eaten, but believe me, I was working hard here. Looking back now, it doesn’t seem so bad – as long as I had a glass or two of Cass beer at my disposal.

Shell fish on the Korean beach at the East China Sea. This stuff was alive when it landed on the grill. Our job was to turn it over and watch it cook until it popped open. Then we pryed open the shell and ripped out the muscle meat stuff with chopsticks and ate it, and then took several swigs of Cass beer.

This is Samgyeopsal. It is like cooked pork, mushrooms, and Kimchi with a ton of side dishes. Koreans like their side dishes. Then everything gets wrapped up in the big lettuce leaves and dipped in something, I’m not sure what, but it was pretty good. A lot of work, but yummy.

Following up on B2B’s comments, do I think that everything will be set right in the world if the Democrats take back the House and the Senate next month? Absolutely not.
But I refer you back to the Lord Acton quote that I posted 17 days ago. I think that, regardless of party, one of the worst things that can happen is for one party to have control of the executive and the legislative branch. I feel that it promotes a healthy system when politicians of both parties are forced to work together in order to advance the goals of the American people. It also works to reduce corruption when you have an opposition party that provides the oversight over the other branch of government.
Now, the issue of politicians having the overarching goal of self preservation is absolutely valid. This is certainly not a new problem and more work does need to be done to make progress in this area. I think that we need to go back to a system where it is a burden to serve in government. Those who find themselves in Washington D.C. should be there to serve their country as opposed to going to Washington D.C. in order to tap the resources of their country and their government.
