Tom Boonen talks smack about Hincapie:
Q:Why did Leif Hoste keep working in the escape, knowing that you’re faster in the sprint?
TB:What else could he do? If he didn’t, he would finish fifth or sixth. Hincapie would also not have won from me, so that’s no excuse either. We both had reasons to continue our escape, like we also both had reasons to stop it.
I don’t think Hincapie has the confidence to win a major classic. I think Boonen knows it and cracks like this are part of the psychological warfare that is bike racing.

WCP took E Fresh’s advice and now has a website with pictures, audio and video from the Euro races they are covering. Makes perfect sense. Here is their video from Tour of Flanders.
Check out what Paul Sherwen has to say regarding George Hincapie and Tom Boonen. Classic.

I think the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot with this immigration debate. Not to say that immigration is not a serious issue and needs to be dealt with, but picking an election year to do it is not the best idea.
Latinos are one of the fastest growing ethnicities in the United States and, with the elections coming up in November of this year, the Republicans have succeeded in alienating and irritating a large number of Latinos with this issue.
In addition, their plans leave a lot to be desired.
• Amnesty ala Ronald Reagan in 1987. Rewarding immigrants for entering this country illegally is not going to be a big hit with conservative voters.
• Guest worker program ala George W. Bush: Bad idea. We actually want to create a leagalized class of workers in this country who have no hope of obtaining US citizenship? They have the guest woker program in France, see how well that works? This system creates an immegrant class that is disaffected and prone to violence and terrorism. Very bad idea.
• Build the wall. Hey, I acknowldge that we need border security but when are we going to have the discussion of who is going to pay for a one thousand five hundred mile wall to be built, maintained and staffed along the southern border of the United States. Do you know how much that is going to cost?
• Deport the illeagle immigrants. All 12 million of them. The fact is, this is never going to happen, period. You are talking about the parents and grandparents of US citizens. The majority of these immigrants are working and are an integral part of the US economy. Business is against deportation, many conservative Christians are against deportation. If Republicans keep talking about deporting illeagle immigrants they are going to lose big in 2006, bigger in 2008 and will find themselves out of power for the forseeable future. Deportation is never going to happen and the Republicans continue to talk about deportation at their political peril.
Something needs to be done about US border security, that’s for sure. In the post 9/11 age, we need to know who is coming into the United States and what their intentions are. But we are coming up on five years since 9/11. If this issue is so dire it should have been dealt with long ago. Pushing it now is simple political pandering before the mid-term elections of 2006 and it’s a total loser issue for Republicans. They should just drop it until after the elections because it’s doing them no good.
