Apparently I am racist. I posted the following on Anti-Strib today in regards to their topic on affirmative action:

Let me propose a scenario:

You have a white guy and a black woman both applying for the same job.

The white guy was born to a middle class family, went through the suburban school system, had his college education paid for by his parents.

The black woman was born to a low income family, went through an inner city school system, had her college education paid for by scholarship.

Both candidates are equality qualified for the job. Which one would you hire?

I can tell you which one big business is going to hire. And it’s not because they have to, it’s because they want to. They are going to hire the black woman.

Why? Sure, some of has to due with having a representative of her race and gender in the company to diversify the employee base. But the real reason is that the black woman shows more potential than the white man.

Another analogy. You have two guys try out for the baseball team. One has played his whole life and the other never played a day. Both can hit, field and throw equally well. Who do you put on the team? You take the guy who has never played because he has more potential. Once you teach him the fundamentals of the game he will be much better than the more experienced player ever could be.

Is that affirmative action? Maybe. But it’s what college and business wants. So if you are white and male you had best be the best. Because if you are tied you lose.

Racist? Unbelievably racist? Maybe I am. You tell me.

Will vicious dem(ocrat)s pay for driving Alito’s wife to tears?

Yes it’s true. FOX News is the propaganda arm of the Republican party.

Today’s Anti-Strib question for Liberals: How much money should we spend on K-12 education?

Sheesh, I don’t know. It does seem like, from the Federal Department of Education all the way down to the individual schools, our education system is mired in bureaucracy.

My thought would be to dissolve the whole thing and take the federal and state funds used for education and provide them to the individual students to use as tuition at private schools. The fed and the state can set up guidelines in regards to what minimum course load should be taught but then leave it up to the individual schools to determine where to go from there.

I am not for this half-way scheme of vouchers to remove kids from public schools and send them to private schools. We either have public schools and fund them fully or we dissolve the whole thing and privatize the education system.

The funds to send these kids to school would still come out of the tax revenue generated at the state level.

Your thoughts?

I never ate those last 342 calories yesterday so I ended the day in the green zone.
Just to be clear, I am not on a diet. I was just keeping track of the calories to see if what I ate during a typical day was within the range that would allow me to lose weight. I would much rather just exercise more than change my diet. God forbid I have to give up my RTS frosting!

American rider Tyler Hamilton had his final hearing before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last Tuesday in the attempt to overturn his two year ban for blood doping. We should be getting an answer from the CAS in the next few weeks.
My prediction? No luck for Hamilton. I don’t believe the CAS is going to help him out. As a matter of fact, the CAS has shown the inclination to be pretty tough on those suspended for doping offenses.
German rider Danilo Hondo appealed his suspension before the CAS. Hondo was banned for one year by the Swiss Cycling Union after his blood was found to have traces of the doping substance Carphedon. As opposed to overturning Hondo’s suspension, the CAS announced last Wednesday that Hondo deserved an additional year of suspension. The two year ban from professional cycling with the additional two year ban from racing in the Pro Tour could effectively mean the end of Hondo’s career.
Will Hamilton fair better? Will the CAS overturn Hamilton’s ban and let him get back to racing? We’ll find out shortly, but I am pessimistic.

Dinner.

Two hot dogs with bun and Cheese Whiz! Awesome! Plus Metamucil.

1025 calories.

I have 342 calories still left to eat today before going over my limit.

I am optomistic.

Today my folks had to put down their second dog in less than a year. Having lost a pet myself I know how difficult it is.
Farwell Otis. You were one big lovable happy dog.
